India’s Only Active Volcano: The Mystery of Barren Island πŸŒ‹πŸ”₯

Have you ever wondered if India has a live, fire-spitting volcano?

Kya aapko pata hai ki poore South Asia ka akela "Active Volcano" hamare apne desh mein hai? Usually, we think of Hawaii or Japan when it comes to volcanoes, but the truth lies in our Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Location and Access:

Barren Island is located in the Andaman Sea, about 138 km from Port Blair. Ye island ekdum sunsan hai aur yahan kisi bhi insaan ka rehna namumkin hai. Since it is a restricted area, you cannot land on the island. Tourists ise sirf door se boat ya chartered plane ke zariye hi dekh sakte hain.

The Geography Point (Science Corner) 🌍

As a Geography student, I find the formation of this volcano very interesting. Ye jwalamukhi hamari dharti ki "Tectonic Plates" ki halchal ka natija hai.

  • Subduction Zone: Barren Island is situated where the Indian Plate and the Burmese Plate collide.
  • The Process: Jab Indian Plate, Burmese Plate ke niche slide karti hai, toh intense heat se rock melt hokar magma ban jati hai.

This internal heat eventually erupts as a volcano, which we call Endogenetic Forces in Geography.

Eruption History and Life:

The volcano was dormant for nearly 150 years before it woke up in 1991. Iske baad se ye kai baar active ho chuka hai, aur sabse recent activity 2017 mein dekhi gayi thi.

One of the most mysterious facts is the survival of Wild Goats on this island. Itni garmi aur sulphur waali hawa ke bawajood, yahan jangli bakriyan sadiyon se reh rahi hain. Scientists are still researching how they survive without fresh water!

Conclusion:

Barren Island is a powerful reminder that our Earth is constantly changing. Geography humein dikhati hai ki dharti upar se shant dikhne ke bawajood andar se kitni "alive" hai.

Would you like to visit this mysterious island someday? Kya aapne pehle kabhi is zinda jwalamukhi ke baare mein suna tha? Comment mein zaroor batayein!
